This painting was inspired by the process of growth, trying to depict the destruction of the old, and the rebirth of the new. The phoenix represents rising from the ashes in a union of life, represented by the mushroom, and the opposing phoenix. The stairs towards the sky represent a pathway out, to a higher level.
